Life isn't always fair | Day 13, Day 14, Day 15 and Day 16

This post was to be published two weeks ago, that's when I decided the title but could not actually write anything. Bad health and then some events kept me away from the blog, 30 days passed and I could manage only 16 outfit pictures. But, I am surely taking up the 30 day outfit challenge in future and I hope I could complete it then. Till then, this is it guys!

Love,
Deepika

Colored Denims | Day 11

I have nothing much to say today. Let's move straight to the outfit. Simple, laid back and very me! Well, there was no thought put into this except for putting the colors together. I wore the black vest to add some structure to the slouchy shirt and that was it. I also added an owl pendant later, therefore, its not visible in the pictures below:

Shoes: Rubi Shoes
Trousers : Customised

The Going Gets Tough: Day 9 | Day 10

Taking pictures in the morning, putting up on the blog in the evening, it was all working out smoothly initially, but then taking the pictures made me run late for work and in the evening I had other works to do, the posts got delayed, no pictures were taken and all that!
I try my best to post the pictures that same day, but I am unable to do so and then this happens, two outfits in one post (one out of which was taken in the past :D ). So yeah, you kind of get the whole picture, right?

But I promise myself to complete this challenge and not drop it in between :)

So here you go:

The Haathi Print: Daily Outfit Post | Day 5

Today, I woke up feeling free (not restricted by the feeling that I have to dress up for WORK). We do not have strict formals at work anyways! Anything descent works but does not mean you show up at work in ‘purani jeans aur guitar’ (you get the point, right?). The basic idea behind today’s look was to layer up on jewelry, everything else that you see in the outfit was built around that (not really, though!).

My favorite trousers paired with my favorite black shirt, it looked well but I wanted it to look fun. Then, comes in the haathi (elephant) print cape I love, it was actually a scarf that I got made into the cape and the look was complete. Its fun to put a little thought into everyday outfits, the 30-day outfit post challenge makes me do just that! I am loving it.

Outfit Details:
Necklaces | Bangles: Janpath
Trousers: Custom Made
Everything else in the outfit: No idea :P

Pink and Blue- Daily Outfit Post (Day 4)

Four days down already! yoohoo!! These days went like a breeze, I hope it stays the same for 26 more days (sounds easy, eh? ;) ). I won't go into the details of the outfit as it very very simple, all the pieces just got along well and I liked the outcome :).

I have something for all the tie-dye stuff, dupattas are my favorites followed by bags and tops. I keep collecting this kinda stuff and sometimes they come really handy (like today!). They're good to add a desi (Indian) touch to the outfit.

Fishy Love: The earrings I am wearing in the post! Designed and Created by me. Deepika Designs

P.S I am in love with this song (On replay)

The Colored Denim- Daily Outfit Post (Day 3)

First two days went just fine. Today, it started with a 15 minutes long staring at the pile of clothes lying in my closet (I usually take 5!). It was one of those 'having too many ideas but none working' kinda day. Finally, I combined these three pieces. Here comes the third day outfit. The basic inspiration for this look was tunic/kurti with the jeans. I added colored trousers and the crochet shrug as my take on the look.

Outfit Details:
Kurti: Customized
Trousers: Also worn here and here
Crochet Shrug: Also worn here
Earrings: Deepika Designs
Cuff: Janpath
Bag: Dilli Haat

The Flower Power- Daily Outfit Post (Day 2)

Just yesterday, I was talking about not wearing layers, due to the rains! And today, I am embracing layers (that's how unpredictable I can be!). Layering is an easy way to wear the same piece of clothing in a new way every time. Also I felt inspired by Surbhi's look, where she layered with a button down shirt.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Also worn here
Floral Tee: Thrifted
Necklace: My Design
Watch: Factorie
Bangle: Dilli Haat

P.S Have you read about the 30 day outfit challenge yet? Read it here.

Much Love,
Deepika :)

Life in the (First Compartment of Delhi) Metro! - Part 1

All you gals (well, all the Delhi gals) must have traveled at lease once in the first compartment (the women only) of the Delhi metro. It's a different world in itself, full of girls! I spend almost 2 hours everyday, 12 hours a week in the metro, so it has become an inevitable and a very important part of my life. I see a lot of new and some same faces everyday travelling via metro. But, there's something special about it that's makes me write this post.

I randomly took the above picture yesterday, then I thought why not write a post about it? Traveling in the metro can be quite fun and entertaining. If you too travel in the Women Only compartment then you might have seen/met the following people:

The Loudspeakers: The gals who talk non-stop on the phone and in a very loud (well, unbearable!) tone. No matter how much you stare at them, makes faces, do whatever, they just ignore all the gesture.

The Chooda Gals: The type of gals I love staring at, I love chooda (for those who don't know, they are red and white bangles that the newly weds wear). Just yesterday, I saw 5 gals wearing chooda on my way to work.

The Readers: (I being one of them) The girls who dig themselves into novels/newspapers/text books/tabs reading something and ignoring everything/everyone around.

The Fashion Disasters: Dressed head to toe in the same color, shoes, bags and even hair band, all in that same color.Well, I don't think I need to describe them further, we all know them!

(to be continued...)
This is a never ending list that I'll continue (this and a lot more) in the future posts. Below is the picture of the necklace I wore yesterday!

Via Instagram

And I liked the Grazia this month, its all about embracing the denim pants (which is supposed to be my favorite piece of clothing). Also, the wedding book (which came with the Vogue) offers interesting info on jewelry and clothing for the brides-to-be, one of my friends being one of them, loved it.

Any funny metro experiences? Please share :)

Much Love,
Deepika

The Double Denim #InFB Remix

I love denim in any and every way, so when I came to know about the Double Denim InFB remix, I was very very excited :D. I have never done a denim on denim before, so it was a kind of challenge for me (which I totally enjoyed.) So, to put together this outfit I combined two blue shades of denim with red accents. I did the old school blue and red combo with a twist. That necklace and the braid add a desi (Indian) feel to the outfit. If you want to know how to an Indo-Western remix, you can visit the post here. I totally love this denim shirt its so so versatile I've already worn it in three different ways.

The Tie Dye Love: Day 2 at BuzzouQ

I love colors. I just LOVE COLORS. Would you believe?, if I say about two years ago my wardrobe had only one color, Black. Now,its full of colors, I have one top in almost every color. After Coral, Polka Dots and Floral Prints, Tie Die is my next obsession. The moment I saw this dress I knew its coming home with me.The fall, the fit,the embroidery, the colors, everything about this kurti/top/dress was just PERFECT! I wore this on my birthday before this.

DAY 2 of the event: You can see the Day 1 here. And this is the second day, the day we roamed about in the club, ate yummy choco mud pie (:P) and clicked some beautiful pictures. Club Patio (the venue) was a beautiful place :)

Ain't that Black Rose beautiful? I bought this from the exhibition

The Past Week

I've been missing from the blog for almost a week now. The past week was quite strange, half of it I was recovering from viral and towards the weekend I participated in an event, which was planned all-of-a-sudden. Some of you may already know I am an accessory designer, so the event was an exhibition. I loved being a part of BuzzouQ (the event), met loads of designers, some friends and some amazing people. Creativity was everywhere! In case you want to see the pictures of what I displayed, you can see them here.

The event was for two days 15th and 16th September and here's what I wore on the first day:

DAY 1: I loved every bit of the exhibition. since I had to be moving around through the day, comfort was my priority while putting this outfit together

Displaying the earrings on the stand :D

I am the Nerd

During my school days, I was considered a nerd. Only because, I wore glasses and I was a book-friendly person. I found it irritating in the beginning, but gradually grew used to it and took it as a compliment :P. The meaning of being a nerd is entirely different now, its considered cool (at least acceptable). Nerds are no more the outcasts in a class/group. Nerd frames being a style statement since few years, being a nerd (or looking like one) is very much stylish.

Coming to the outfit, it's from my personal lookbook (I am self-obsessed when it comes to pictures :P). These pictures were taken in July,2012. I was going through the album recently, thought this would make a perfect outfit post and here it is! This frame happens to be one of my favorites (I keep switching between frames to make wearing specs interesting and stylish). I wore the same frame here too.
Excuse me for the picture quality. All the pictures are taken from my phone.

Are we ready for fall yet...

I am not! Why? Because I have not had enough of the bright colors... At least, not yet! Though I love blazers, layers and the scarfs. But still, I am loving neons and colored denims a bit more. Plus, this year it'll be extended summers for me. How? You'll come to know in a month :D

Coming to the outfit, it was created around the bright coral pants (did I say I 'was' obsessed with coral, I still am ;)). I did not want to pair it with obvious black or white so I picked this checked shirt. I went easy with accessories to let the pants be the focus.

The Indian Fusion

I always like adding desi elements to my outfits. The Indo-Western fusion has been one of my preferred styles. Adding a mirror work dupatta to my tee and jeans was my favourite during the college days. Though, I wasn't really fond of the salwaar-kameez look at that time but I loved tie and dye dupattas. I had a great collection back then. Jholas are another great option to add that desi touch to your outfits.
